Our Story

Sunny Markers are designed and developed by a Kiwi Occupational Therapist living in Melbourne. Through our experience and passion with working with children, we have found fine motor skills to be the foundation for independence and have such a big impact on children's emergent literacy, communication, connection and learning. It is therefore our vision at Sunny Markers for all children to be able to express themselves and connect to their world as confident and involved learners.

Our Story

Hi! My name is Claudia, and I am an Occupational Therapist from New Zealand, living and working in Melbourne.

Through my work as an OT in community settings, including homes, schools, kindergartens and workplaces, I have had countless conversations about fine motor skills and the important role stationery plays in confidence, independence, communication and creativity across all stages of life.

As part of my work, I was constantly searching for stationery that could help build fine motor skills - developing strength and control while reducing fatigue for a more comfortable, confident and independent creative experience. I wanted tools that I could confidently use with the people I worked with every day, products that were not only developmentally supportive, but also high quality, engaging to use, and aesthetically appealing.

But time and time again, I simply couldn’t find stationery that truly brought these elements together.

So I decided to create it.

What began as an idea to support the many children and adults I worked with each day grew into Sunny Markers™ — a thoughtfully designed range of stationery created to support hand strength, control and coordination, while helping reduce fatigue and frustration during writing, drawing and creative tasks.

Today, Sunny Markers™ continues to be guided by the same philosophy that inspired it from the beginning: when stationery is thoughtfully designed, it can help build skills, encourage independence, and empower people of all ages and abilities to create and communicate with confidence.

Thank you for your support!
